AMP Genesis Men’s Group Guidelines:
1. Confidentiality is, first and foremost, the foundation of the AMP culture and is required for acceptance into the group. No group member is to repeat any information shared by group members outside the group. In addition, to protect the culture of safety and confidentiality that comes with joining a recovery group, no group member is to approach or show familiarity with other members of the group in church settings, district meetings, national conventions, or other public venues unless both parties have previously agreed to this being acceptable and are comfortable with being seen together.
2. No “fixing” during group discussions; only offer encouragement and understanding. We are not here to tell each other how to fix things but to “consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works” (Hebrews 10:24). Any feedback between participants should offer encouragement or point out blind spots with love and allow for self-discovery in the primary sharer, provoking them to work the process for personal growth and healing childhood wounds. Please do not interrupt, preach to, give un-asked-for advice, or judge others in the group.
3. All participants are expected to participate and be present at their cameras during group meetings with the camera on. Sharing during discussions benefits the sharer and, most often, benefits others dealing with the same issues and needing someone to relate to. By refusing to participate, the rest of the group is being robbed of their chance to gain insight from your life experience, and the safety culture of the group is compromised. The only way to healing is by connection, which cannot come from a blank screen and muted mic. Sharing workbook answers will be required in this group.
4. This material is in depth and the work requires thought and introspection. As such, failure to attend the meetings and do the homework will cause a participant to fall behind quickly, which will drag others in the group down also. Failure to attend 2 consecutive meetings will result in being removed from the group. An exception can be made for extenuating circumstances in which the participant keeps the group leader informed of their inability to make the meetings and continues to do the weekly homework, sending their answers to the group leader for accountability.
5. Because of the volume of material to discuss, a time limit of 3-5 minutes per “share” will be in effect. If we do not keep to this, not all participants will get the opportunity to share in our sessions. This group cannot allow that. No monopolizing the time.
6. Each member will be assigned 2 brothers that they will be required to call once a week. Members will choose a day/time each week to have this call and will be held accountable to making these calls. This is required to be a part of this group as well as the homework. Connection with other men is foundational to this program.
